Being Prepared for the Week Ahead

Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Barack Obama are known, amongst other things, for wearing the same or similar clothes every day. Why? To avoid ‘decision fatigue’ and conserve brain power for the greater decisions of the day. Fortunately, there are some things we can all do to avoid decision fatigue. For me, this usually means wearing similar clothes each day, and yes, to the despair of my colleagues even eating the same thing every day.

However, now that we’re working from home I have found myself sitting at my desk at lunch time thinking “What am I going to eat next?” A decision I haven’t encountered for quite some time!

Now, saying that meal prepping will improve your decision making skills might be a little far-fetched. However, after forgetting to prepare my lunch it’s clear that there are certainly a range of benefits, from saving time and money to eating healthier when you prepare your meals in advance.

For those who don’t know, meal prepping is the act of preparing meals in batches and portioning them out for the week ahead. It’s almost like making your own TV dinners or Light n’ Easy meals, except they taste better because you made them to suit your own palate.

Prepping is great for portion control and it’s so easy to do. It just requires a bit of organisation. Simply decide how many meals you want to do, source your containers (make sure they are BPA free), pick a day to prep and get cooking!

There’s a lot of thinking at the start, but then you don’t have to worry about what to eat for the rest of the week.

We’ve scoured the internet and come up 6 great meals that are easy to prep:

The meals are quite chicken heavy, it seems chicken goes hand in hand with meal prepping.

I’ll be trying out the Italian style chicken for my next round of meal prep.

Let us know if you have any great preps and as always, shoot us an email if there are any wellness topics you’d like us to cover.
