Enhance and deliver an industry specific IT system in the logistics and engineering area for this NSW Government department. The role is based at Sydney Olympic Park for 6 months initially and would require someone on site at least 3 days per week.
This role requires the Product Owner to own this specific system, look at the features and how to make the system more efficient. This is a priority at the moment and this role has been especially created to solve this problem. At the moment, there is no one in the organisation who knows how to prioritise and groom the backlog and so this is an opportunity to take the reigns and make the role your own and then look to train others within the business.
This role will initially start with the one system, but could then expand to looking at other systems within the department, so there is potential for this to be a long term role.
Candidates should have the following skills and experience:
Previous experience as a Product Owner
Experence with IT systems and products
Experience in prioritising and grooming the backlog
Good communication skills
Government experience would be beneficial
Ability to work in the office at least 3 days per week.
Operations, logistics teams, looking after engineering.
This role's manager owns a few systems, Arena Heavy Plant system, if they need a tractor, go in to that system, no one knows how to prioritise and groom the backlog.
Look at the features and how to make the system more efficient.
Need them to understand what it takes to be a product owner.
6 months plus 6 months, depends how great they are.
No ex-banking people.
Wont be doing any PM work, act on Josh's behalf and help him run the particular project in terms of prioritisation and help him make decisions, build good relationships with other IT stakeholders.
Be Josh's right hand person for this particular area.
Start with Arena Heavy Plant, then could expand to the logistics side of it. If a district needs stock or PPE, Josh's team runs that function, makes ure stock is available, stores are replenished, Fleet and building trucks.

3 - 4 days a week in the office - as its emergency services, they need to be there
