About the role:
As a Software Development Engineer, you will be building and maintaining applications for our first responders to:
manage critical incidents and state-wide events (including natural disasters)
support proactive policing in the community
assist specialist units tackling issues such as youth offending, road safety, and cybercrime

Your duties will include:
Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor software that supports effective policing and community safety
Collaborate with business users and product managers to design and develop exceptional software products and features
Translate business requirements into elegant software solutions
Utilise and contribute to the continuous improvement of software development frameworks, processes, tools, and standards
Application development using programming languages and platforms including modern low code platforms (e.g. Microsoft PowerApps)
As the successful applicant, you will have:
You will have a strong foundation in software development and engineering
Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
Proven hands-on experience in software development, within an agile delivery environment
Skills and knowledge in continuous integration / continuous delivery toolsets and processes
Demonstrated experience of effective collaboration with technology and business stakeholders
Proven ability to work independently and as part of cross functional scrum teams
Requirements and relevant information:
The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. OR Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
