Clicks IT Recruitment is working with a Queensland Government department who is on the hunt for a Records Manager.
The Role:
- Location: Brisbane, CBD
- Rates: $72.20 p/h inc super (OR $78.55 ex GST)
- Primarily on-site. (NO remote.)
In this role, you will support the development of information management standards and provide expert guidance on managing information throughout its lifecycle. As a Records Management Officer, you will oversee the appraisal, sentencing, and transfer of physical records to State Archives, ensuring compliance with approved schedules, departmental policies, and legislative requirements to meet strategic information governance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support State-Wide Programs: Actively participate in high-priority, state-wide programs of critical importance, working within broad policy guidelines to oversee a service-wide function.
- Records Appraisal and Transfer: Manage the appraisal, sentencing, and transfer of significant volumes of physical records from educational institutions for processing by the information services team.
- Provide Guidance to Schools: Offer clear and accurate advice to school administrative staff on identifying records for permanent retention and transfer to state archives.
- Interpret and Apply Retention Schedules: Ensure precise interpretation and application of authorised retention and disposal schedules.
- Data Management and Entry: Perform accurate data entry to submit record transfer requests via the state archive's online system.
- Lead Project Tasks: Oversee project activities, including creating progress reports, identifying risks, and collaborating with project and information management teams. Serve as the accountable senior archivist, assisting school staff in preparing and disposing of records.
- Ensure Compliance with Legislation: Provide recommendations and expertise to support adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures in public sector recordkeeping and information management.
- Prepare Reports and Briefing Materials: Draft reports, briefing notes, presentations, and correspondence for review by project and records management teams.
- Collaborate and Maintain Professional Standards: Work independently and as part of a team, always ensuring compliance with departmental policies and representing the records management team with integrity and professionalism.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in appraising and sentencing records across all formats to meet legislative obligations within a public sector agency
- Expertise in managing records at a strategic governance level, ensuring compliance with organisation-wide processes for a consistent and integrated records management approach
- Strong background in providing support and guidance aligned with enterprise-wide records management practices in large, diverse public sector organisations
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of departmental clients
- Willingness and ability to work primarily on-site in the Brisbane CBD to handle physical records that must remain on-premise
