How To Beat The Cold

Although we may not like it, we’re nearing winter! The season of coughs and colds. So, how do you boost your immunity to avoid the bugs, or what’s the best way to get rid of them if you have already succumbed?

There are a few things we can do to strengthen our bodies against germs and boost our natural immunity.

What boosts our immunity?

There have been numerous studies that show regular moderate exercise, the intake of a variety of vitamins and minerals, and keeping alcohol and smoking to a minimum can boost your immunity.

Make sure you don’t overdo the exercise while your body is trying to recuperate. Gentler programs that incorporate yoga and walking can keep the body moving without stressing your system. Here are some ideas on stretches, exercising on a tight schedule and recovering after a workout.

Science is a wonderful thing, and we have the great fortune to live in a country that has access to vaccines – if you’re particularly worried about getting sick, it can be a good idea to book a flu shot.

What if you’re feeling sick?

Plan ahead or ask for help. There is nothing worse than trying to multitask juggling tissues, cough medicine and healthy ideas for dinner while feeling ill. This delicious Immune boosting Chicken Soup will come handy. Make sure to create a big batch to fight off the worst of the germs and have meals ready for the week to save yourself from having to constantly cook while you’re trying to recover. It’s much harder to feel sorry for yourself with a warming soup to chase away the winter blues and keep away the sniffles.

If soup is not your thing – these simple juices also pack a powerful punch of vitamins and flavour. The Pineapple Power is a great anti-inflammatory with pineapple, celery and ginger. All of which can help reducing coughing and decrease cold durations.

So rug up, take good care of yourself, and consider investing in an oodie! What are your top tips for beating the cold? As always, please let us know if you have any tips, feedback or there are any particular topics you would love us to look into. You can reach us at marketing@clicks.com.au
