Lead Digital Forensic Investigator
Location: Canberra, ACT (Onsite)
Contract: 12 months + 2 × 12‑month extensions
Clearance: NV1 minimum
Are you an experienced Digital Forensic Investigator ready to step into a senior, high‑impact role?
Our client is seeking a skilled professional to lead complex digital investigations and enhance the organisation's forensic capability within a critical cyber security environment.
About the Role
You will play a key role in conducting in‑depth forensic analysis across a diverse range of systems, devices, and cloud environments. This role requires strong technical leadership, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to maintain the integrity and chain of custody for all digital evidence.
What You'll Do
- Lead and execute advanced digital forensic investigations across enterprise systems and infrastructure.
- Collect, preserve, and analyse digital evidence while maintaining strict chain‑of‑custody requirements.
- Produce comprehensive investigation reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of SOPs, documentation, and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Provide technical leadership on forensic tools, including maintenance, patching, and capability uplift.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Digital Forensic Investigator.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing forensic investigations.
- Hands‑on expertise with recognised forensic tools and methodologies.
- Strong written communication skills and experience producing technical documentation.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to share knowledge within a team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in client‑facing or high‑stake environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple investigations under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with tools such as Autopsy, Cellebrite, Volatility, FTK Suite, Wireshark, or similar.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications in cyber security or digital forensics.
