Payroll Lead

Clicks IT Recruitment is proud to be working with a large, Queensland based public sector organisation that is on the hunt for a Payroll Lead to join their team in the Ipswich CBD!

In this role, you will report to the Project Manager providing expert support to the Payroll Team to ensure the continuity of payroll operations during the transition to a new HCM/Payroll/Time Sheeting system. You will play a key role in guiding payroll processes, leveraging your experience with HRIS systems-particularly SAP SuccessFactors and Kronos-to support a smooth implementation.

The Role:

• Contract Duration: 12 Months.
• Rates: Market Rates.
• MUST be Ipswich or Brisbane based - will be required to be on-site 3 days a week.

The Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-level, precise, and comprehensive advice and support to senior management to ensure the effective management and execution of payroll processes, including salary and wage payments.
• Ensure payroll operations adhere to all relevant legislation, certified agreements, and award conditions.
• Lead the Payroll team with a strong focus on operational excellence, employee experience, continuous improvement, and high performance.
• Act as the subject matter expert on all payroll-related matters, ensuring remuneration processes are accurate and delivered on time.
• Oversee the end-to-end payroll function, maintaining strict confidentiality across data entry, verification, and disbursement processes.
• Serve as a key link to the Project team by identifying and reporting issues within the current payroll system to support effective project delivery.
• Drive and support change initiatives, guiding the Payroll Team through project implementation, parallel pay runs, and the transition to the new system.
• Extensive experience managing payroll in a medium to large organisation, with local government experience considered an advantage.
• Strong background in working with multiple, complex award structures.
• Relevant professional qualifications would be highly regarded.
• Extensive experience in a strategic leadership capacity.
