We're partnering with a globally recognised mining technology organisation to support the ongoing evolution of a large-scale platform deployed across complex, real-world operations. This role sits at the heart of application architecture and delivery, suited to someone who enjoys staying close to engineering teams and ensuring architecture translates into tangible outcomes.

You'll play a key role in shaping modern application design across a sophisticated, distributed environment - influencing how systems are built, integrated, and scaled in practice.


What you'll be doing

• Define and own application architecture across complex, enterprise-scale systems
• Work closely with engineers to ensure architecture decisions are practical and implementable
• Stay technically engaged across code, APIs, frameworks, and platform capabilities
• Produce clear, delivery-ready artefacts including architecture views, data flows, and deployment models
• Guide architecture decisions across planning, build, integration, and release phases
• Design and influence integration patterns, data flows, and system interactions
• Evaluate and document technology choices, trade-offs, and design considerations
• Proactively identify and resolve technical risks, constraints, and design conflicts
• Contribute to evolving standards, patterns, and reusable architecture approaches

What you need to bring

• 10+ years' experience across software engineering and application architecture
• Strong hands-on background working with modern development stacks and application platforms
• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, maintainable, and secure applications
• Deep understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and distributed system design
• Experience working with cloud and/or hybrid environments (e.g. AWS or similar)
• Ability to engage comfortably at code and framework level when required
• Strong experience producing architecture artefacts that directly support delivery teams
• Demonstrated ability to guide engineering teams through design and implementation decisions
• Strong understanding of deployment models, environments, and application life-cycle considerations

Bonus points for

• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
• Exposure to Java or similar enterprise application stacks
• Experience across front-end frameworks and full-stack application design
• Background in highly integrated or operational environments
• Experience contributing to application modernisation or platform evolution initiatives
