Our Client a leading Federal Government agency is seeking to employ a Senior OpenShift Administrator who can navigate the monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters, particularly within the context of government services.
You will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems and automate solutions to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environments, with a proven ability to lead cloud projects, mentor junior staff and integrate seamlessly into a complex, dynamic team environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, reliability and scalability.
- Assist developers in automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerised applications using OpenShift, utilising our GitOps platform and CI/CD pipelines for efficient service delivery.
- Oversee cluster management (inc. in-place cluster upgrades), resource allocation, configuration management, and capacity planning within Red Hat OpenShift environments, ensuring optimal performance and responsible resource utilisation.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
- Lead technical teams in the execution of OpenShift projects, mentoring junior engineers and managing project timelines and deliverables.
Essential criteria
- At least 5+ years of experience in system administering - Including experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster administration.
- Extensive experience in Kubernetes administration - Including networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting within containerised environments.
- Experience in a government or highly regulated environment, with demonstrated compliance to standards such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential 8
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent certification, or a willingness to obtain these certifications within the first 3-6 months of employment.
