About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join a major banking client on a 6-month contract. This role goes beyond day-to-day automation and pipeline work - you will drive end-to-end systems development, integration, and audit activities, ensuring secure, compliant, and resilient delivery across enterprise platforms.
You will be instrumental in planning, driving, and delivering systems development projects, selecting and implementing the right tools and methods, and ensuring solutions align with security, architecture, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Development & Delivery
- Plan and drive systems development projects in line with organisational goals.
- Select, adopt, and adapt appropriate systems development methods, tools, and techniques.
- Ensure stakeholders are engaged and resources optimised.
- Monitor progress, report on outcomes, and ensure compliance with architecture, standards, and security requirements.
- Risk, Audit & Compliance
- Contribute to and execute risk-based audits of processes, products, systems, and services.
- Identify, document, and communicate risks with clear root cause analysis.
- Collate evidence, interpret control measures, and deliver actionable audit reports to stakeholders.
- System & Solution Design
- Design large or complex systems balancing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Conduct impact analysis of major design options and trade-offs.
- Review and validate systems design, recommending improvements and managing risks.
- Provide expert advice to ensure alignment with standards and policies.
- Methods, Tools & Governance
- Evaluate, implement, and promote best-fit methods and tools across programmes and projects.
- Contribute to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods, tools, and system design.
- Manage benefits reviews and recommend process/tooling improvements.
- Systems Integration & Automation
- Lead development of organisational systems integration and automation capabilities.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage adoption of tools, processes, and frameworks for robust integration.
- Provide authoritative guidance on integration, risk management, and preventative actions.
- Design, code, test, and refactor complex scripts and integration services.
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Proven expertise with Azure DevOps (on-prem), Artifactory, Git, Fortify, and SonarQube.
- Strong hands-on experience in CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools: Spectrum, AppDynamics, ELK stack.
- Solid background in large-scale enterprise environments, ideally in financial services.

- Duration: 6 months (potential extension)
- Location: Sydney CBD (hybrid, 5 days onsite per fortnight)
