Infrastructure Migration Specialist - VMware to Hyper-V

About the Role

We are embarking on an exciting infrastructure transformation project, moving from a VMware-based virtualisation platform to a Microsoft solution. We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Migration Specialist to lead the design, build, and evaluation of an on-prem Hyper-V cluster, and if suitable, drive the migration of workloads from VMware to Hyper-V.

This 12-month contract role offers the opportunity to work on a high-impact project, collaborate with internal infrastructure specialists, and leverage direct vendor support from Microsoft.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evaluate a Hyper-V virtualisation cluster on-prem.
• Assess existing VMware infrastructure and guide selection of the most appropriate Microsoft-based solution.
• Perform migration of workloads from VMware to Hyper-V.
• Evaluate adjacent Microsoft technologies including Azure Stack HCI for suitability.
• Provide technical guidance on integrating with or replacing hyperconverged storage solutions such as vSAN.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and vendor partners.

About You

You are a hands-on infrastructure professional with proven experience in VMware to Hyper-V migrations. You thrive on solving complex infrastructure challenges and can balance technical decision-making with practical business outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong background in VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
• Demonstrated experience migrating workloads between VMware and Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of Hyper-V deployment options and adjacent technologies (e.g. Azure Stack HCI).
• Understanding of hyperconverged storage solutions such as vSAN.
• Ability to assess, design, and implement infrastructure solutions aligned to business needs.
