Role Purpose
The Data Engineer plays a pivotal role in the development, integration, and optimisation of Home in Place's software ecosystem. This role is responsible for supporting and enhancing Microsoft PowerApps, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Fabric, while ensuring seamless integration with core operational systems, the enterprise data warehouse, and related databases.
You will develop data workflows, scripts, integrations, and applications that improve data quality, streamline processes, and enhance system interoperability across the organisation. A key focus of the role is supporting the rollout and ongoing optimisation of Dynamics 365, Fabric, and PowerApps, while ensuring secure, high-performing, and scalable data environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, manage, and support Home in Place software systems and their related data architectures.
- Support and maintain the enterprise data warehouse and associated data systems.
- Use a diverse range of programming languages to analyse, manipulate, integrate, and store data efficiently.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and design integrated system solutions.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and third‑party vendors to develop workflows, applications, and integrations.
- Analyse, develop, and integrate applications where feasible to enhance business processes.
- Ensure all managed systems meet required security standards and frameworks.
- Investigate new technologies and provide technical advice on system improvements and implementations.
- Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans in consultation with the GCTO.
- Design and implement monitoring, configuration management, and reporting functions that support a user‑driven environment.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, integrations, and processes.
- Provide after-hours support for critical software and data issues, including occasional weekend maintenance.
- Deliver timely technical support to end users when required.
- Assist with user training and capability uplift as needed.
- Mentor IT staff on Dynamics 365, PowerApps, Fabric, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with teams to enhance system workflows, data entry processes, and external system interfaces.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Strong experience in data engineering, systems integration, and database management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365, PowerApps, Fabric, and related Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data workflows.
- Knowledge of data warehouse design, architecture, and management principles.
- Strong scripting and programming skills (e.g., SQL, Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- Experience developing integrations across enterprise systems and APIs.
- Understanding of security standards, governance frameworks, and modern data management practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation capabilities.
