Systems/Cyber Administrator

I'm seeking a switched-on Systems/Cyber Administrator with hands-on experience using Microsoft Defender XDR in an enterprise environment. This will be a 3 month contract role with potential extensions.

Within this role, you will play a critical part in protecting our infrastructure by monitoring, analysing, and triaging cyber security alerts to distinguish between true and false positives with confidence and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor cyber security alerts using Microsoft Defender XDR.
• Accurately classify alerts as false positives or true positives.
• Perform root cause analysis and document findings.
• Liaise with internal teams to ensure the appropriate escalation and resolution of real threats.
• Prepare clear and concise written reports detailing analysis and outcomes.
• Prioritise and manage tasks to meet deadlines and operational requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years of experience as a systems administrator across Microsoft servers and desktops.
• Minimum 1 year enterprise experience using Microsoft Defender XDR to monitor and analyse security alerts.
• Strong experience in analysing cyber threat alerts with a demonstrated ability to distinguish between false and true positives.
• Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server operating systems, including how they are exploited by cyber threats.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 cloud platform (minimum 1 year enterprise experience).
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) and Identity & Access Management practices (minimum 1 year enterprise experience).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Valued but Not Required:

• Experience using the AirLock application execution control system.
• Familiarity with enterprise risk management practices.
• Experience managing cyber risk in third-party relationships.
• Understanding of ISO 27001:2022 and its practical implementation.
