RHEL System Administrator

An opportunity exists for a skilled Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator to join a major financial services organisation delivering critical national infrastructure.

This is a 9-month contract role, ideal for a Linux professional with 5-6 years of experience who is keen to work in a secure, high-performing IT environment.

While deep SWIFT product experience is not essential, familiarity with SWIFT infrastructure such as PAGs, DMCs, and HSMs will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain RHEL-based systems across secure, high-availability environments.
• Assist in the integration, patching, and ongoing support of SWIFT payment systems where required.
• Collaborate with technical teams on mission-critical platforms such as the New Payments Platform (NPP) and Fast Settlement Systems (FSS).
• Ensure systems are secure, up-to-date, and aligned with operational and compliance standards.
• Investigate and resolve system issues with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Contribute to improvements in system automation, monitoring, and documentation.

About You

• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in Linux system administration, ideally with RHEL.
• Solid scripting and automation knowledge (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Experience supporting or integrating SWIFT products such as PAGs, DMCs, HSMs is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with VMware virtualisation (vSphere, ESXi) and network engineering concepts (e.g., Cisco UCS).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Understanding of high-availability systems in the financial services or payments sector is desirable.
