Red Hat Systems Engineer (Linux) - Banking Sector

Location: Sydney CBD (Hybrid)
Type: Contract 6 months with view of extension

The role focuses on RHEL server deployment, HA cluster provisioning, and automation using Python and Bash, within a secure and highly regulated environment.

Role Overview

You'll play a key role in facilitating application migrations, building resilient Linux infrastructure, and providing low-level design, implementation, and post-migration support. The ideal candidate will have deep RHEL and VMware experience, coupled with strong scripting and automation capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement compute and storage components to support migration workloads.
• Deploy, harden, and operate Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across production and non-production environments.
• Develop and maintain Python/Bash scripts and deployment automation tools.
• Build staging and canary environments with snapshot and rollback capabilities for controlled releases.
• Implement secure management of service accounts, certificates, and credentials, including automated rotation.
• Integrate logging, monitoring, and SIEM forwarding into deployment workflows with proactive alerting.
• Provide hypercare support post-migration to ensure performance, stability, and compliance.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven expertise in RHEL server administration and automation.
• Strong background in RHEL High Availability (HA) cluster configuration and management.
• Solid experience with VMware vSphere administration and automation.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python and Bash scripting to standardize and automate deployments.

Desirable

• Experience with Cisco UCS hardware.
• Familiarity with banking or enterprise-scale environments.
• RHCE or higher Red Hat certification.
