About Your New Role
Clicks IT Recruitment is proud to partner with Tourism Australia in the search for a Global Data Manager with a strong marketing data background to join their Digital and Marketing Operations Team. This role is strategic future-focused role designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of marketing, and data. Coupled with the deep understanding of the technical aspects of data, you don't have to do the implementation, but you need to lead it and understand it.
Reporting into the GM for Digital & Marketing Operations you will operate as an SME, working independently to lead and implement the marketing data strategy. You will work closely with Tourism Australia's marketing technology and program lead, digital experience lead, analytics and reporting teams, in addition to partnering with the marketing function to support their success, boosting the effectiveness of marketing efforts across all regions and business units.
Role Overview
As the Global Data Manager, you will:
- Lead and implement the marketing data strategy and execution to generate demand through data, manipulation, transformation and supporting platform builds
- Collaborate with the General Manager, Digital, and Marketing Operations, to develop the strategic vision for Tourism Australia's marketing data.
- Develop and showcase the owned platforms data approach to key internal stakeholders.
- Ownership and maintenance of the digital owned platform data sources, ensuring they are maintained, documented, and effectively operational.
- Collaboration with the Tourism Australia data warehouse and data engineering workstream, to enable marketing data is available in the self-serve reports.
- Taking a leading role in data governance, architecture, and integration to ensure marketing follows best practice for new systems, platforms, and initiatives.
- Lead the review and selection of tools required to build Tourism Australia's marketing data practice.
- Own and maintain key relationships with agencies / data tool / platform providers / implementation specialist etc.
- Be timely, accurate, and clear in all communication and interactions.
About you
- You will have started your career in a hands-on technical data role, ideally supporting marketing functions before transitioning into business led data management roles.
- Proven background in marketing data, with a deep understanding of marketing data architectures, terminology, and measurement.
- Ability to succeed in ambiguity, have the skills to bring clarity to complex problems, correctly identifying key stakeholder issues and addressing them effectively.
- Strategic mindset and the ability to see the big picture, anticipate future needs, and guide teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
- When required you are willing to get into the implementation detail.
- Extensive experience with web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with marketing technologies such as Adobe Marketing Cloud, Adobe products (Analytics, Target, Audience Manager) and/or web analytics platforms (eg Adobe Analytics and GA4).
- Experience with Microsoft BI cloud stack (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Power BI).
- Knowledge of working with CRM data is an advantage.
- Experience managing projects, working with external providers, and influencing without direct reports.
- Strong knowledge of statistical concepts, models and applications.
- Ability to alter behaviour, opinions or actions with a positive and proactive mindset in light of new information, changing situations, unexpected obstacles or different goals.
