Most medium and large-sized organisations use an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to help them filter and manage the hundreds of job applications they receive. The reality is, for each job you apply to, there many other applicants you are competing with. Unfortunately, this can mean your resume is only ever reviewed by a system before being deemed unsuitable. The good news is you can learn how to write an ‘ATS friendly’ resume. Ensure your relevant experience is clear. This sounds pretty simple but it’s one of the most common mistakes made. Using keywords from the job ad in your resume also helps you get on the same page as the ATS and the person who will ultimately read your resume.
