As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be part of a major modernisation program and be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure. Your expertise in VMware, Active Directory, and systems automation will drive the success of our client's enterprise systems and ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design & Implementation
• Architect and implement enterprise virtualization solutions using VMware, Hyper-V, and Citrix VDI.
• Manage and optimize server operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Server.
• Automation & Scripting
• Essential Requirement: Utilize advanced Python and PowerShell scripting to automate system processes and workflows, ensuring efficiency and consistency across IT operations.
• Develop strategies for enhancing the security of IT infrastructure, adhering to best practices.
• System Administration & Support
• Manage core services such as Active Directory, DNS, and NTP.
• Support patching and backup/recovery technologies, including Ivanti Lumension, Satellite 6, and Commvault.
• Ensure infrastructure reliability and performance across networking, storage, and security solutions.
• Project Leadership & Documentation
• Lead internal and external teams in delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed architectural designs, operational standards, and comprehensive documentation.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to align IT infrastructure with business goals.
• Provide expert guidance on infrastructure technologies and best practices.

Essential Requirements

• Technical Proficiency
• Advanced skills in Python and PowerShell scripting for system automation.
• Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix VDI).
• Strong understanding of server operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Server).
• Experience with cloud platforms: M365, Azure, and Zscaler.
• Infrastructure Expertise
• Proficient in managing services such as Active Directory, DNS, and NTP.
• Familiarity with patching and backup tools like Ivanti Lumension, Satellite 6, and Commvault.
• Strong understanding of networking, storage, and infrastructure software technologies.
• Leadership & Communication
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage large-scale IT projects.
• Excellent documentation skills, including writing standards, procedures, and architectural designs.
