This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering enterprise‑wide IT transformation initiatives, overseeing a broad portfolio of programs and projects, and establishing strong governance, demand management and delivery disciplines. The role plays a critical part in ensuring technology investment is aligned to strategic objectives and delivers measurable business outcomes.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across IT transformation and delivery, including:
- Leading major IT transformation initiatives aligned to Queensland Government ICT policies and standards
- Overseeing the planning, prioritisation and delivery of complex programs and projects
- Establishing and operating a Project Management Office (PMO) with fit‑for‑purpose governance, standards and controls
- Managing demand and resource planning to balance business priorities and delivery capacity
- Driving enterprise architecture practices to ensure scalability, interoperability and long‑term sustainability
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and enabling collaboration across teams
- Managing budgets, reporting performance outcomes and providing data‑driven insights to executive leadership
- Actively identifying risks and driving continuous improvement across the IT portfolio
You will lead a small leadership cohort and work closely with executives and business leaders to support whole‑of‑organisation transformation.
What You'll Bring
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong blend of strategic leadership, delivery capability and stakeholder engagement, including:
- Proven experience leading IT transformation and delivery programs in government or large, complex organisations
- Demonstrated experience establishing and managing a Project Management Office (PMO)
- Strong enterprise architecture experience and ability to align technology investment to business strategy
- Sound knowledge of portfolio, program and project management frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or similar)
- Strong commercial, governance and risk management capability
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead teams through change
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
