About the Role:
- Incumbent: New Position Reports to: Director
- 4 days onsite, based in Collingwood.
- Experience with Level 3 essential in addition to people skills and team management skills.
- Startup company, with a large client base and good career position.
Primary purpose:
The role of Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for providing IT support and consulting services to our client's customers, across all levels (i.e. 1-3), in addition to developing and implementing solutions to business IT problems and requirements. The role extends to working both in teams and independently, on project management, technical delivery of IT projects and other initiatives to drive greater efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities and Outcomes:
- Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues, such as network, hardware, software, security, and cloud problems, both internally and for the client base, from a basic to advanced level.
- Maintain and upgrade IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, devices, software, and applications.
- Develop and implement IT policies and best practices, such as backup, disaster recovery, security, and compliance.
- Assist with development and communication of solutions with internal team and clients.
- Assist with escalations, mentor and train other staff in various areas of expertise.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals and vendors and manage IT projects and contracts.
- Research and evaluate new IT solutions and technologies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Document and report IT issues, incidents, and resolutions.
Essential Characteristics and Soft Skills - Exceptional work ethic and customer service skills, with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly explain technology and solutions, in context of business, without technical jargon.
- Professional personal presentation.
- Strong knowledge of general business IT expectations, policies and procedures, for both small and large businesses
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to quickly review and understand IT infrastructure and configurations in business environments, even where there is little or no documentation.
- High attention to detail and quality, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or related field.
- At least five years of experience in IT support, administration, or engineering.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in IT systems, security, networks, hardware, software, and cloud services, including Microsoft server & workstation, Microsoft 365 stack, Azure Cloud Platform, AWS, Internet connectivity and related services.
- Certifications in IT support, administration, or engineering, such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, or Google, are preferred.
Other requirements - Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must hold current driver's license and have access to a car for daily use.
- Ability to satisfy a police check, if requested.
- Able to work flexible hours, including times outside of standard business hours, where required.
- Able to travel for work for short periods (several days) (interstate).
