Data Engineer

A leading technology-driven organisation is seeking a Data Engineer to support the development of scalable, high-performance data solutions in a complex, cloud-native environment. This is a contract role working within a collaborative team, with a strong focus on data architecture, transformation, and security.

The Role:
You'll work on a major transformation project modernising data pipelines and storage solutions using Azure technologies. This includes designing and implementing ETL/ELT workflows, automating real-time data flows, and supporting data migration initiatives. You'll be expected to optimise data performance, ensure security compliance, and collaborate with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimise data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, and Python
• Automate batch processing and real-time data flows with Azure Event Hub and API Management (APIM)
• Build and maintain data storage solutions within Azure Fabric
• Implement partitioning, indexing, and validation strategies to enhance data accuracy and performance
• Enforce data security policies and compliance standards with Azure Purview
• Support integration efforts between legacy systems and cloud-based platforms
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, and business teams to enable data-driven insights

What You'll Bring:

• Expertise in Azure Fabric and data engineering best practices
• Strong experience in SQL, Python, and PowerShell for automation
• Hands-on knowledge of Azure API Management (APIM), SAP OData APIs, and event-driven architectures
• Experience in data governance, role-based access control (RBAC), and security standards
• Background in supporting data analytics, reporting, and migration projects
• Bonus: Experience with payroll systems, regulatory compliance, and reconciliation strategies
