Super
I'm looking for a Network Engineer who knows Cisco ASA firewalls inside out and someone who doesn't just understand Access Control Lists (ACLs) but lives and breathes them.
This is a chance to take full ownership of a mission-critical ACL audit and optimisation project, working in a high-impact, security-focused environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform a deep dive into Cisco ASA firewall configurations to audit, analyse, and clean up ACL rules.
- Identify redundant, outdated, or overly permissive rules and develop a plan to streamline them.
- Collaborate with architects, security pros, and application teams to ensure firewall rules align with business requirements and security standards.
- Propose and implement changes with surgical precision, ensuring minimal impact on live operations.
- Document everything - pre and post changes - with clarity and completeness.
Nice to Have - But Very Welcome
- Automation experience with Python, Ansible, AWX, or REST APIs.
- Familiarity with SolarWinds, Splunk, TIG stack, and other network monitoring tools.
- An eye for automation opportunities to eliminate manual work and drive efficiency at scale.
What You Bring
- Degree in IT, Networking, or Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- At least 2+ years working with Cisco ASA firewalls and ACL configurations.
- Strong grasp of network security principles and the ability to assess ACL effectiveness using logs, packet traces, and rule hit counts.
- Experience in enterprise change control environments.
- Excellent communication skills - you'll need to write and speak clearly, and work well with cross-functional teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong proactive mindset.
Why Join?
You'll be working on critical infrastructure that powers large-scale operations. This is not just a maintenance role, it's a chance to leave your mark on network security architecture, bring in best practices, and influence how things are done.
If you're someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys untangling the messy, and wants to make networks safer and smarter I want to hear from you.
