The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data management, governance policies, and experience with stakeholder engagement in a public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements related to data governance and compliance initiatives.
Design and implement data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and processes to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
Work closely with IT, data teams, and business units to improve data quality, availability, and accessibility across the organization.
Develop strategies to mitigate data-related risks, including privacy, security, and accuracy concerns.
Analyze and document current data management practices, identifying gaps and recommending best practices for continuous improvement.
Support the development of metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
Facilitate workshops and presentations to ensure alignment and understanding of data governance strategies across departments.
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, FOIA).
Provide subject matter expertise in data governance tools and technology platforms.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Business Analyst, specifically in Data Governance, Data Management, or a related field.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices, including data stewardship, data quality management, and metadata management.
Familiarity with government policies and regulatory requirements related to data handling (e.g., privacy laws, security standards).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering actionable insights.
Experience working in or with government agencies or public sector organizations is highly desirable.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in tools such as SQL, data visualization tools, and governance software.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Certifications in Data Governance (e.g., DGSP, CDMP) or Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) are highly advantageous.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in data & governance within a government or highly regulated environment
